Happy World Statistics Day

According to the United Nations, today is the first World Statistics Day. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon kicked the celebrations off by saying:

On this first World Statistics Day I encourage the international community to work with the United Nations to enable all countries to meet their statistical needs.

At Brilliant Publications we welcome any effort to improve the levels of numeracy and statistical awareness. If you are looking for an introduction to statistics, why not try Improving Numeracy through Spreadsheets by Bob Sykes. The book contains many fun activities children can use to learn about spreadsheets, such as the Dinosaur Factory (page 1, page 2).
