Word of the Day is designed to help children learn how to use a dictionary, whilst simultaneously expanding their vocabulary. Today’s Word of the Day begins with the letter ‘D’. The word is: digit.

 

digit n.

  1. (zool., anat., or joc.) Finger or toe.
  2. Each numeral below ten (orig. counted on fingers); each Arabic numeral from 0 to 9.
  3. (astron.) 12th part of diameter of sun or moon (in expressing magnitude of eclipse).

digital adj. Using of digits.
