Word of the Day is designed to help children learn how to use a dictionary, whilst simultaneously expanding their vocabulary. Today’s Word of the Day begins with the letter ‘S’. The word is: Space.space n.

  1. Parking Space

    Parking Space

    Continuous extension viewed with or without reference to the existence of objects within it; the universe beyond the earth’s atmosphere, the immeasurable expanse in which the solar and stellar systems, nebulae, etc., are situated; spacecraft, ~ ship, vehicle designed to travel outside the earth’s atmosphere; ~ -time, (philos.) four-dimensional continuum resulting from a fusion of the concepts of space and time.

  2. Interval between points or objects.
  3. Interval of time.
  4. (print.) Blank between words etc., piece of type-metal used to separate words etc. ~ v. Set at intervals, put spaces between; make space between words on typewriter etc.
