Free creative teaching resource – Healthy eating

What better time to introduce children to the delights of eating fruit than the warm days of summer?

Help your children to follow this recipe to create a colourful fruit salad (no cooking required!). As you can see from following the link, the easy-to-follow, photocopiable recipe is presented in both a traditional recipe format and in a visual, step-by-step format, to suit pupils of differing reading abilities. They will be introduced to using a knife safely, find out why we need to eat and also the importance of cleanliness in food preparation.

Healthy Cooking - Fruit Salad

This recipe is the first one in Healthy Cooking for Primary Schools, Book 1. The book is one of a series of five books, providing a practical cooking programme for primary schools. Essential cooking skills, theory and health and safety points are introduced progressively throughout the series. The flexible format of Healthy Cooking for Primary Schools means that it can be used by all primary school pupils, helping them to become lifelong healthy eaters. All the recipes have been tried, tested and enjoyed by pupils in the author’s school.
