Sunshine acrostic: free creative teaching resource for KS1

Optimistically I am hoping that when you try this activity the sun will be shining for inspiration.

If not, it will be a test of everyone’s skill at imagining a sunny day.

Ask the children to write an acrostic poem for the word SUNNY. The worksheet shows an example of an acrostic poem and displays the letters ready to use. The activity is taken from How to Sparkle at Writing Stories and Poems. The contents of the book will help early and beginning writers at Key Stage 1 (KS1) to master some of the skills of composition and writing conventions. All of the activities stimulate creative writing, in the form of stories or poetry. They are designed to give children lots of ideas and to help them plan and develop those ideas.
