Hola ball game: free Spanish teaching resource

How do you break the ice and start getting your children to speak to each other in a different language? Try this game …

In the Hola ball game, different coloured balls are thrown between the children to prompt the repetition of key introduction Spanish vocabulary. Each colour ball has a different word or phrase linked to it. Once these have been mastered either the vocabulary/phrases can be changed or more balls with extra vocabulary or phrases can be introduced. However you approach this game it is a lot of fun and children forget they are speaking another language in front of their peers.

This game is taken from Juguemos Todos Juntos which contains 20 easy-to-play photocopiable games that are a fun way to practise speaking and listening to Spanish. Playing games is an ideal way to learn a foreign language as children become more confident speakers in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. They will practise speaking and listening without realizing it!
