In Luc adore les serpents, the ninth Luc and Sophie book, Sophie, Nadine and Emilie are playing with Sophie’s cat. They are talking about what animals their brothers like. The boys like rats and snakes, but the girls don’t. What do Luc and Daniel do to surprise the girls?
The story is told via speech bubbles and is a fabulous way of introducing the phrases ‘j’aime’, ‘j’adore’, ‘je n’aime pas’ and ‘je déteste’.
As with all Luc et Sophie stories, there’s a twist at the end. Barbara Scanes, the author, says that she used her own children (who are now in their 20s!) as role models when thinking of what Luc et Sophie would do.
