Extreme measures

A thought-provoking article considering the Prevent strategy but also how to moderate classroom discussions on terrorism has been published in the latest Teach Secondary magazine.

Written by Alison Jamieson, co-author of Radicalisation and Terrorism: A Teacher’s Handbook for Addressing Extremism, the article promotes considering atrocities throughout history instead of focussing solely on what is happening now and realising there are two sides to any conflict and peaceful solutions are possible.

Everyone has questions about the what is happening in the world today. We as adults do not have all the answers but we can give our young people safe environments to voice their concerns and feelings without being judged.
